Indigenous Conservation Knowledge systems among the Baganda.

Indigenous Conservation Knowledge systems among the Baganda.

Basing on the observation that traditional knowledge has
widely been marginalised in environmental conservation
approaches and practices today and that this partly because it
is insufficiently documented and analysed, this study set out
to establish the relevance of traditional Baganda approaches to
sustainable environmental conservation today.
The study specifically sought to answer the following
questions: What are the traditional Baganda methods of
environmental conservation? How do the Baganda
traditionally transfer environmental conservation knowledge
from one generation to another? How is the future perceived
in traditional Baganda ecological knowledge? What lessons
can be drawn from the traditional Baganda approaches for
today?
